Spice It Up

It’s here!  I picked up my new laptop.  It’s an HP something or other.  I’m very technical, can you tell?  Anyway, the husband said it was a good one and the price was right which was the most important thing!  So shiny and new…

No more ghetto monitor hook-up :)

I skipped the gym in favor of meeting a friend early for coffee.  I had planned on getting a treat at the Starbucks, so I just had a Chobani nonfat blueberry yogurt before leaving…

o1 003

At the Starbucks, you know what was calling my name…

o1 004

I love Pumpkin Spice Light Frappuccino !!!

Lots of gabbing went on, then I had to leave for a call about some “blog stuff”.  More on that soon ;)  Tease!

I ended up way late for lunch again.  I was past the starving point and starting to get shaky.  The easiest thing that came to mind was a wrap, so I quickly threw together  turkey, chipotle pepper hummus and baby spinach in a high fiber tortilla.  Some POPchips and grapes and I was good to go…

o1 007

Gobble, gobble.  I don’t even know if I tasted any of it, except for the hummus which, WHEW, did I say this was mild before?  It seemed pretty spicy today and basically overpowered the turkey.  I really do like it, though.  I’ve never been a fan of spicy things, but some do grow on me.  I just like to taste all the components of a sandwich or wrap, otherwise what’s the point of putting it in there, right?

Since lunch was so late, I didn’t feel the need for a snack and I kinda had a stomachache anyway.  Probably from scarfing down my lunch!

I decided on a simple dinner of Chicken Cutlets and Zucchini with Beans.  The chicken cutlets are always a hit with the husband and daughters, but I knew the zucchini with beans were going to be a tough sell.  For this easy dish, I pan-fried some fresh sliced zucchini and added in a can of Trader Joe’s Marinated Bean Salad.  Before serving, I added some sliced mozzarella (2 lite string cheese, cut-up) to try to entice the haters

Very tasty!  I think it would make a great topping for pasta, too.  The husband was good with it;  the daughters not so much.  Try, try again.

I ended the night with THE HOMEWORK WARS and a few Trader Joe’s Whole Grain Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites

Have a great one!!!

ONE GOOD THING:  I’m starting to think in terms of planning for certain treats.  If I know I want something, I cut back somewhere else to accommodate for the treat and I’m not doing it in a way that seems threatening or depriving.  It’s starting to feel like a natural progression.

Question of the Day:  Do you like spicy food?

I'm leaving for work, but had to log in real quick to check google reader. THEN had to stop by and comment on how I am CRACKING UP over the ghetto monitor comment. lmao That is so something we would do here! My computer died last spring, and I got a shiny new one. Love it. never had an HP until now. Didn't realize how much I missed the number key pad until I got this laptop.

PS, stopping to get one of those light frapps you keep blabbing about.

yipeee for your new laptop! No more ghetto monitor hookup! lol how funny!

I love those fraps! They tried to give me that round dome lid on mine last weekend but I asked for the flat one because it reminded me that I didnt get whipped cream in mine. lol An empty dome is just sad :(

Yes I do like a little spice...but when its so spicy that my lips burn and I cant taste my food, no, not so much! lol

Happy new computer !
With spicy food, I am a great big wimp. I used to adore drinking Tabasco sauce straight in my young and crazy days but now it really bothers my tongue when I bite into anything spicy. And the Starbucks fraps are WONDERFUL !

I love SB's fall flavors. Will be getting one while I'm out later.

Yay for a new laptop! How fun!

That zucchini with beans dish sounds so interesting! I'll have to try it one day! And what a great idea to serve it over pasta as well!

Hope you're having an awesome day!

My daughter has an HP laptop. She loves it! I hope you love yours too.

I am a spicy food fanatic. When I cook some dishes for myself and my daughter, I'll often spice mine differently at the end: spicier curry paste for example or chili flakes or spicy mustard on a sandwich. LOVE it!

I'm not sure if you guys get President's Choice brand in the states but they make a topped hummus with roasted red pepper and chipotle which is quite spicy. It is ALWAYS in my fridge.

One more thing: it's great how creative and persistent you are trying to get veggies into your kids!

Boy am i a spicy food addict!! For some reason though, I always end up eating WAY more food when it's spicy and can't understand why all those studies say that chilies curb appetites. Clearly, I'm an alien.

Anyway, I love your wrap and sandwich sides ALWAYS. We would be great sharing snacks. hahahah BBQ pop chips are my all time fave...but the cheddar i am definitely NOT a fan of. (I'm out of sour cream and onion mr. krispers darn it!)

I love your new laptop. I think maybe next year I will get one.
I just picked a zucchini from the garden and I think I will make it with cherry tomatoes, onions, peppers and garlic and put it over pasta. Thanks for the suggestion. I was going to grill the zucchini but I did that already and I wanted something different. I know my daughter won't touch it. I am not sure about hubby.
I also am dying to try the Pumpkin Frap from Starbucks.
I am a big fan of spicy food.
I just bought some tahini to make my own hummus and I think I will buy some chipotle peppers and mix it in. The spicier the better. YUMM
Have a great weekend.

Yay, new laptop! You've left the hood, girl! :^)

BTW--I LOVE spicy food--can't get enough. However, there is a limit to that. I once ate at Sweet Basil (on 202 in Chadds Ford), and whatever I ordered was soooooooo spicy that it was making my eyes water.

Great talking with you the other day. You rock!

I love the concept of planning for treats. If you know you are going to be in a situation where you'll be tempted by a treat later on, then plan your day accordingly and enjoy the treat at night. :) It's all about balance and moderation, love it!
