Fast + Slow

I had to keep myself busy this morning to take my mind off food!  I had to fast for an ultrasound appointment (just some stomach troubles getting checked out) and it wasn’t until 11:oo a.m. !Funny, when I’m told I can’t eat, all I want to do IS eat!  Finally, the time came and I raced to get to the appointment.  It was over  pretty quickly and I daydreamed about lunch the whole way home!  Sheesh!  Obviously, one of those “detox” fasts are not in my future!

Lunch had to be quick to appease my growling stomach.  I decided on a wrap made with turkey, a Laughing Cow Light cheese wedge, spinach and Trader Joe’s Roasted Pepper and Artichoke Tapenade.  It was all rolled up in a Joseph’s Lavash Bread and served with a ginormous pear and some Kettle Baked Potato Chips

This was one of my best wraps, yet!  I loved all the flavors.  I noticed that food tastes extra good when you’re starving!  But, I made a conscious effort to put on the brakes and eat nice and slow:)

The afternoon flew by with errands and the remainder of the evening was spent at little daughter’s religion class – this time big daughter and I both got wrangled to help out!

I wasn’t into a big dinner when we got home, so I heated up some Trader Joe’s Organic Lentil Soup along with some cornbread I had in the freezer.  I took 55 pictures of this, but there is just no way to make lentil soup look pretty!

In the interest of full disclosure, I did steal a few big spoonfuls of the daughters’ mac and cheese, too!  It was too good to let it slip by without a taste :)

Overall, it was a light eating day, but I ate enough filling foods to feel satisfied.  I did manage to end with a little something sweet, though…

ONE GOOD THING:  I took the time to enjoy all the flavors of my lunch.  Sometimes, if I’m overly hungry, I wolf the food done without tasting it!  This time, I savored each bite so that I would be satisfied when I was finished.

Question of the Day:  Have you ever fasted for more than one day?

I have done juice or liquid fasts of 3 days for religious reasons, and they are not pretty.

Your lunch sounds really good. I love wraps. I have never tried laughing cow cheese but it seems like a lot of people like it. Is it hard to find?
As for fasting for a day? No way. I don't think I could make it!

I've water-fasted for 3 days. It was pretty rough, but downright horrific at night. There's nothing like trying to sleep when your belly button is rubbing a sore spot on your spinal column. lol

I gotta try that Trader Joe’s Roasted Pepper and Artichoke Tapenade- looks perfect for a wrap spread! YUM!

I have an appointment next month that is at 2pm and I was told that I cant eat for 6 hours before it. I told the lady that was mean. lol She told me to wake up at 7to eat breakfast. I have a HUGE breakfast planned that day!

I have never fasted for more than one day. I recently had several ultra sound appointments in the afternoon and couldn't eat anything all day. It really made it clear to me how I start obsessing about food if it's "forbidden"... That's why no food is completely off limits for me...

Good job that you took the time to enjoy all the flavors of your lunch. It's sometimes hard to do when you are really hungry...

There are just some things that don't photo well - for me its spaghetti squash! As long as it tastes good, who cares?!

Never fasted more than overnight! :D

I've never done a fast more than one day and that day was for a doctor appointment.

Great eats as always. I have to remind myself to slow down and savor my food even when I am starving. Mush more enjoyable that way.

Boy, that's been one of the big leaps for me on this journey: the realization that if I really slow down the eating process, it simply feels like I'm eating more. Great advice for everyone.

Your wrap looks so delicious. For some reason, when I make wraps, they never turn out right. I can't roll them up prettily like I see on other blogs! And the potato chips...yum...are those BBQ?! My favorite!

I've never fasted. Ever.

Sandy - Nope, not hard to find. I've seen it in all the grocery stores. It's really good - you'll love it!

Thinspired - yep, you guessed it! BBQ is the best :)

I can't imagine ever fasting. When I've had to fast for blood test purposes, I make sure and get in for my blood test first thing in the morning. I'm usually dancing outside their door before they even open, lol.
