An Afternoon Visit

Hey, guys! Thanks for showing the husband some love on his first ever blog post! He was a good sport about doing the review and trying one of my healthy creations!

While the hubs was "blogging" this morning, I got right to my workout. It totally sucked. I tried to do Level 1 of The Shred but was feeling a little dizzy again, so I finally opted out. Right in the middle of dumbell rows. I'm not sure what's up with that; I'm thinking there's a sinus issue going on. Oh well. Nothing stops me from eating, though! I moved on to breakfast: 3/4 c. Trader Joe's High Fiber O's, 1 c. sliced strawberries, 1/2 c. unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze and a tsp. of sliced almonds for 3 crunchy POINTS...

I cleaned up a bit and got ready for our lunch guest: Aunt Linny! My sister-in- law came over to spend the afternoon with the daughters...

We chatted while I made us all some lunch. Of course, it was PB+J for the daughters, but Aunt Linny was willing to eat "my kinda lunch". I made us hummus, cucumber and baby spinach sammies and ,to go with them, some carrots, watermelon and a 1/2 serving of Kettle Brand Baked Potato Chips. All this for only 4 POINTS...

For our sammies, I used a new (to me) bread - Pepperidge Farm Light Style Extra Fiber Wheat Bread...

The nutrition facts are terrific - a serving is actually 3 slices (2 POINTS), but I just used 2 slices for 1 POINT...

Aunt Linny entertained the daughters the rest of the afternoon with puzzles, stories and play time. Thanks, Linny the girls had a ball! When it was close to dinner, we said our good-byes and I finished up making dinner while snacking on some Triscuits crackers - I think about 4 POINTS worth.
Nothing fancy for dinner tonight, just roasted chicken and a green salad with Kraft Light Three Cheese Ranch dressing. A simple 7 POINT meal...
I didn't feel much like dessert. My stomach was a little off, but then it wasn't. Weird. Then, I saw these PhillySwirl SwirlStix pops in the freezer and thought they would be just what I needed...

These are some great popsicles. I love the fun flavors! And the stats (click pic to enlarge)...

I chose the Orange Dream and it was the perfect 1 POINT ending to my eats today...

I looking forward to getting in bed! I'm hoping to try out a long run in the morning =)
Have a great night!

Too Many Leftovers To Count

We have so many leftovers from the bbq yesterday! My fridge is stocked full. I did give some away to family as they left, but we are still filled to the brim. I decided, in order to go through some of the leftovers, that I would eat what we have without driving myself batty trying to figure out POINTS for everything. Scary, I know. I am entering dangerous territory here. I equate not counting POINTS (or even calories for that matter) with being "off program". Off program = weight gain. Or does it? Can I do this? Can I not count what I am eating and still lose weight? I'm not sure. Especially with these leftovers! But, it is an idea I have been toying with for a while. I don't think I am completely sold on my ability to do it yet. I haven't made goal YET and I don't want to change up anything drastically until I get there. But, for today at least, I "forgot" about counting and started on Operation: Fridge Clear-out.

Breakfast was 1/2 c. of nonfat greek yogurt and 1 c. of leftover fruit salad...

Lots of lounging went on today. It was so relaxing after all the running around I have been doing the last week! I decided to not do any formal exercise today. It kinda felt good to take a day off.

Lunch was leftover Sundried Tomato and Pesto Turkey Burger and those amazing Greek lima beans. I have to try and recreate these! They are so good! I had a full cup of those and thankfully, I have about 1 more serving left, so you will be seeing them again. I decided to go bunless for the burger and topped it with a slice of Parmesan cheese and 1 tbsp. bruschetta...

The remainder of the afternoon was spent polishing nails and toes (mine and the daughters'), then jumping on the trampoline. The husband set up the hose at the top of the safety netting and turned it on "mist" so we all got misted with the water while we jumped around in our bathing suits. It was fun and a great way to cool off on this hot and humid day.
We stopped jumping for bit to enjoy a nice cool treat...

Dinner was leftover hot dogs and burgers for the husband and daughters. I opted for the remainder of the eggplant parmesan and a side of Italian green bean and potato salad...

After dinner, we played badminton in the yard. We suck. Well, at least the daughters and I do! The poor husband was waiting so patiently to be able to get a volley going. We were lucky we got it over the net! We kept missing it and the game ended with me running so athletically to slam the shuttlecock that I overswung and landed flat on my face. I banged up my knee and was rolling around on the ground holding it, half laughing and half crying! The husband and daughters were on the ground hysterical laughing at my wonderous athleticism. Yep, I definitely put the "bad" in badminton ;P
No formal dessert tonight, although they are quite a few of those leftovers that I would like to dig into! I did have a few bites of chocolate mousse cake when getting it out for the daughters and thankfully, they finished the rest of that!
I think I'm ready to get back to counting tomorrow. We made a good dent in the tough stuff today, so tomorrow should be easier to figure out. Hopefully the scale won't "figure out" that I haven't been counting :)
Have a great night!

A Day To Play

Wow, it's another summer day today! It got to 90 degrees and felt like the middle of July! I think this is just an "appetizer" though; the temps are heading down this week. Again, I was feeling like an outdoor run, but I'm not quite healed, so I will be patient. I was going to head to the basement for an elliptical workout, but got so distracted with doing stuff around the house that I never made it! I guess I will consider it a "day off". I don't do that very often, but I think it won't hurt. I hope :)

I did manage to make time for breakfast. I was in the mood for cereal, so I broke out this oldie but goodie cereal, Quaker Crunchy Corn Bran...

A serving is only 1 POINT -if you can see with my sloppy writing on the box ;)...

I decided to use it as a topping for my Oikos Honey Nonfat Greek Yogurt. I also added some beautiful strawberries for a fiber and protein packed 4 POINT breakfast...

I'm trying to go through some freezer items, so that they don't get lost in the land of freezer burn. I found some leftover pizza that I made just last week, I believe. It was the one made with the spelt pizza dough. I reheated that for lunch and it was just as good as the day I originally made it! That's what happens when you eat something before freezer burn :) I went crazy and had a side of carrots to go with it! I've been avoiding carrots since my oral surgery, but I thought I would try it out today. No probs. Yay! A great 8 POINT repeat...

After lunch, we headed out to a friend's son's 3 year old birthday party. It was set up like a carnival with lots of moonbounces, games, carnival foods and plenty of "grown-up" food, too. Wow, sure glad I ate before I left! How -EVER, I could not, did not...resist...this...

Giant brownie with giant gobs of chocolate icing. You can't tell from this picture, but this thing was about 2 inches high. It stared at me for a long time, calling, beckoning, tempting. I caved. And you know what?? It wasn't THAT good! I think it sat out too long. But, I ate it anyway :) Not sure of the POINTS. Maybe 500??? LOL! Hopefully, I can run later this week :(
I also picked on a soft pretzel before I left the party. Again, not that good. Gotta work on the "don't eat it unless it tastes good" rule. Anyway, it was a fun time of outdoor play in the sun! Hope I sweat off some of those calories...
I wasn't all that hungry for dinner. The husband and daughters decided to eat hot dogs and some fruit. I was thinking of just having cereal or maybe skipping dinner altogether. I did some cleaning and then felt ready to have a little something. I remembered I had some tofu in the fridge, so I decided on a tofu scramble. I used 4 oz. extra firm tofu, roasted peppers, red onion, baby spinach, a slice 2% cheese and salsa. I crumble the tofu and brown it in a nonstick pan sprayed with cooking spray, then add the rest of the ingredients. Simple and absolutely delicious! I could eat this every day! I had a Weight Watchers Petite Bagel with a wedge of Laughing Cow Light on the side. A quick and easy 6 POINT dinner...

Gee, for not being too hungry, I sure ate a lot! And I topped it off with a little "sweet"...

The flavors are so fun and they are only 1 POINT...

I went with the Banana Split...

A nice way to end a HOT day!
Hope the weekend was fun for you, too!!! Have a great night =)
