Starvin’ Marvin

I am starving upon waking up in the morning!   Well, in the afternoon, too, but let’s just stick with the morning for now ;P

I had planned on running at the gym, so I didn’t want too much in my stomach.  I decided these were perfect to tide me over…

IMG_1336

They were just enough to quiet my stomach and give me a pop of energy for my 3 mile run.

I felt much stronger during my run today.  Less winded, less time-checking and less leg weakness.  I like that feeling!  Don’t know if it’s the increased run time and mileage or just a good day.  I may have a better idea after my outdoor runs this weekend – Sat. is 2 miles and Sun. is 3 miles.

I wanted to take a minute to thank you for your comments on my last post regarding the pre-5K training schedule.  I am always open your suggestions and recommendations.  Manderz and Amanda gave me some great food for thought – thanks, guys!  And as strongly that I feel about trying to improve my running skills, I also don’t want to injure myself.  So far, my hip has been cooperating, but I know that with overuse, the bursitis could majorly act up.  So, I’ll promise to respect my body and listen to how it is responding to the schedule.  I think what may work best is to follow the schedule for one week on/one week off.  By off, I mean my regular exercise –elliptical, weights, The Arc Trainer and save the running for the “on” weeks.    What do my running peeps think?

After my run, I was starving again.  I brought another dashboard breakfast that I grabbed from the freezer – mini Veggie Quiches…

IMG_1338

I dug these out from the depths of the freezer and I wasn’t sure they would be good, but they were A-OK :)

But, not very long lasting.  I was starving about an hour later!  I tried to take my mind off it by doing some house chores, however, that didn’t work very long.  I decided to just listen to my body and EAT!!!  I made a wrap with turkey, bacon, baby spinach and salsa.  Along with it, went some cantaloupe, pineapple and POPchips

IMG_1341

Plus more POPchips.  Cuz, once you POP, you can’t stop! Hey, how’s that for a slogan?!  You heard it here first, POPchips peeps!

Later in the afternoon, the munchies came to visit.  I started off with some #@!$%^&* Cheez-its, then stopped the insanity with a healthier choice…

I was trying to eat a little lighter (don’t laugh) so I could indulge in pizza at dinner!  Pizza is so easy now that I use Biz ‘s no rise pizza dough.   I made a regular boring –old- sauce –and- cheese only pizza for the husband and daughters and  White Pizza with Zucchini and Broccoli for me.  So easy with having leftover zucchini and broccoli waiting in the fridge!

White Pizza with Zucchini and Broccoli

  • 1 recipe No Rise Pizza Dough
  • 1/2 cup part-skim ricotta cheese
  • leftover roasted zucchini
  • leftover steamed broccoli
  • 1 heaping cup part-skim mozzarella

Way delicious…

I couldn’t wait to dig in…

IMG_1348

I think I could eat this everyday…

IMG_1350

I did finish the night with a piece of dark chocolate that I didn’t take a picture of  because I sprinted up the steps and locked myself in my room so I wouldn’t eat any more!

Okay, I won’t torture you anymore with my punchy writing today …

ONE GOOD THING:  Locks on my bedroom door.  Better than what I used to use across the kitchen opening…

Have a great day, everybody!!

Hey Marisa, forgot the article! lol, so I may not get it to you until Monday, but I'll get it to you. It's food for thought on the running if nothing else.

Do what feels right for you as far as running goes anyway. Some people do run every day and they are fine. But yes, definitely try to incorporate other things too. Sounds like a great plan and makes me want to go running to!

I finally went running on the treadmill yesterday since having my surgery on Oct. 1st! I ran 5 mins, walked on an incline of 10 for 5 mins, and repeated for 30 mins. It felt good to run a little bit again!

Good luck! And your pizza's always look so delicious! Maybe one day I'll try it!

That pizza looks phenomenal. I love homemade pizza.

I sure hope my future children like veggies as much as my husband and I do. If not I'll have to resort to sneaking veggies into random dishes they will eat...

Hey there ms. starvin marvin! I am so inspired by your plans to run the 5K. I would love to challenge myself and try to do something like that. Thank you for sharing your link to the cool running website. I totally checked it out and the plan seems realistic for someone just starting out. Though...I give you props for just hammering out 3 miles like that. I..on the other hand am huffing and puffing after 2miles. I think I'm going to try that training plan too!

Yay for Biz's no rise pizza dough. It is definitely yummy! You did such a sweeeet job making the pizza...it looks delicious!

That pizza looked delish! And I'd love the recipe for those mini breakfast quiches.

I would think that it's better for your body to have the variety in your workouts each week as opposed to one week running, the next week, other stuff. I just think it would be easier on your joints. But I'm someone who will rarely run two days in a row. So take it with a grain of salt!

I would love the recipes for that dashboard breakfast. They would be a great addition to my breakfast rotation.

Once the Swine Flu is extinguished from my house I am going on a couch to 5K schedule.

I've got bursitis in my hip too. Running does tend to aggravate it, but the worst part is that I can't lay on it. I feel ya :-(

I am not a runner, have bad knees so I just walk 3 miles a day. Good luck with your work out schedule. That pizza looks so good. I love a good veggie pizza and have never tried ricotta cheese on mine. I had to laugh at you locking yourself in your room. Been there and done that.

That pizza looked soooo good. I have been without *real* pizza for quite some time - I eat flatbread pizzas from Trader Joes which taste wonderful - but not like pizza. I just found your blog and I love how comprehensive it is. All of the food looks delicious and I am glad to have found a great resource for interesting recipes - this will help stave off food boredom! Thanks!

What is it with those $%(*@#$ cheez-its? They're the devil, aren't they? But you backed away. Bet ya wouldn't have done that 65 pounds ago. :)
