A Snack Intervention

It was another sunshiny day, today. I thought I would go for another walk at the trail. Before I left, I had quick breakfast of Banana Fudge Vitatop (1 POINT) and a mango crackshake (2 POINTS)...

Then, I hit the trail. I walked 4.2 miles in about an hour. I tried to really keep my arms pumping to burn those calories. I wonder if I am burning as many calories as when I run. I run at a pretty slow pace, so maybe walking this way is doing a better calorie burning job? I don't know. I guess I have to save up for a Body Bugg to know for sure!

For lunch, I made a wrap with 1/4 c. Spinach Artichoke Hummus, cucumber slices, lettuce and a La Tortilla Factory Wrap. I went back to soy crisps and carrots for a side. A tasty 5 POINT lunch...

I felt like something sweet after, so I had one of these Sunsweet Prunes ; they are individually wrapped which makes them feel more "special". As if prunes could be special. Well, I guess if you're having bathroom "issues", these could be very special :) Anyway, 4 of these gems are only 1 POINT...

When the daughters came home from school, I made a snack of savory rice crackers with Laughing Cow Light and 3 strawbabies for 2 POINTS...

Then, I snacked on a handful of goldfish, a chocolate and 2 Righteous Rounds cookies. What can I say? Same old, same old. I need an intervention. A snack intervention. Anyone care to stage one for me? I promise I'll go to rehab; really, I will! I won't bore you with my lamenting about my snack issues. Moving on....
Dinner was carb-arific and quick. I combined 2 oz. of Ronzoni Smart Taste elbow macaroni with 1/2 c. TJ's marinated bean salad from yesterday. What a terrific combo! This bean salad is a great topping for pasta; no other seasoning, sauce or oil needed! I topped it with a tbsp. grated parmesan cheese. A delicious 6 POINTS...
I also had some whole wheat naan for 2 POINTS...

Then I ended the night with a 1/2 c. Banana Split Froyo for 2 POINTS...

Hope you got to soak up the sun today! Have a great night =)

You can get a heart rate monitor for much cheaper then the body bugg. I have a polar HRM and I love it!

I have the same issues with snacking. If you ever figure out how to fix it please let me know LOL!!

Yup, snacks can be a problem... I try to plan my snacks each day so that I won't just snack and snack and snack... Otherwise it's just way too easy to have a snack when the toddler naps, when the toddler eats a snack after his nap, when the teenager comes home... The list never ends... :o)

I keep hearing people talk about hummus. I have no idea what it is, but I am going to look for it next time I go to trader joe's. What is Laughing Cow Light? I will have to look for that one, I am always looking for good toppings for my crackers. I love crackers.

You have me hooked on soy crisps! And my husband, who doesn't normally try things that have the word "soy" in it!

Snacks are tough- but I always revert back to my "Bubba Keg" I swear drinking all that really cold water has made a huge difference in my snacking- I actually drink 2-3 of them a day- 52 oz each and what's funny is now I crave water and couldn't live without it- Before I was addicted to Diet Coke and was always snacking. Try increasing your water- it may help! Great job on the exercise- I have to get better at that!

Hmmm...have you tried having something to drink before eating a snack? I've been doing that in the afternoons when I start feeling snacky, and its been working. I pour myself a big glass of Crystal Light Iced Tea, and I can hold off on the snacks.

I am going to need to grab some of the marinated beans this weekend at TJ's! They look yummy, and I love beans!

Personally, I'm a snacker. I figure as long as it fits into your points for the day (or WPA for that matter) youre fine!

LK-Healthy Delicious - it is good; I think it was a "limited time" flavor though :(

Manderz - Which polar do you have? My dad gave me an old one, but it doesn't tell you calories burned - you have to "do the math" - ewww!

Andrea@WellnessNotes - that's a good idea!

Herbalife Las Vegas- hummus is awesome; it's a spread made from chickpeas and tahini(although I like mine without). You can find it in the refrigerated section of most grocery stores - usually near the deli. Laughing Cow is a spreadable individually wrapped cheese wedge. You can visit their website to see the different flavors. Good stuff!

Terri - yay for soy crisps! LOL, yeah my hubby won't touch them - I'm impressed by yours!! I think they are scared we are trying to "poison" them with health!

Weight Watchers Chic - I am usually sloshing around with the amount of water I drink, but you may be right - I'm not sure if I have kept up on drinking as much as I normally do!

Kathi - THANK YOU! I think you are sooooo AWESOME and inspiring!

Sarah W. - aw, thanks :]

Jenn - that's a great idea; maybe something like a flavored ice tea will help! Thanks!

A Daunting Tale of Scalewarfare - I am surprised at how much I love that can of beans! It is so versatile!

You would be surprised at how many calories walking burns. I can burn as many calories if not more speed walking and pumping my arms as when I run because I walk for longer! I know they say that you burn the same amount of calories mile per mile regardless of running or walking, but, I am not sure how true that part is. Anyway, that's what my body bugg taught me about me so I had to share.

Great eats ALL day - loved your menu!

Oooooo....a new crackshake version. Hey, I had a venti espresso frapp today and thought of ya. Cheers. :)

I <3 my bodybugg so much. It's pretty easy to lose weight if you monitor calories deficit. And it's always a reminder if I need to burn more calories. I can even set alarms on there to remind me to go to bed or to wake me up in the morning. Very cool.

If you do decide to get one there is a guy on twitter that sells them. I guess he's with bodybugg folks.

Hope you enjoyed the walk. I'm loving the weather we're having here.

Snacking. yep. Just try to go for the filling foods. THat's all I can say. I've noticed that as my exercise increases so does my appetite.
