A day off

Some people ask me if I exercise everyday. My short answer is yes. But, I consider Sunday my day off , however, I still do some type of exercise. Sometimes, it's a low intensity walk or jog. Sometimes, I get out my dance mat ( the cheapo plug in the TV version of Dance Dance Revolution) and use that for a while. Today, I did a 15 min. walk on the treadmill and 15 min. on the elliptical. It was not as intense as I strive for during the week, but I still worked up enough sweat to feel like I did something. Good thing, because I had to wake up to this....

Brownies are MY Kriptonite!! I had to make a dessert for big daughter's church event today, so I chose brownies. I know, I know, I need to have my head checked. Why would one willingly make something so tempting??? I need therapy, I'm sure. So, in the spirit of the book, "Eat This, Not That", I decided to make a treat for my breakfast this morning. I searched for a recipe and came up with banana bread. Now, this would normally have a potential for disaster for me, also. I LOVE banana bread. Especially, with chocolate chips!! I have been known to make it "for the kids" and eat the whole loaf myself. So, I adapted a lowfat recipe, ran it throught the Recipe Builder (for Weight Watchers members) and came up with one that would not "break the bank" (Points-wise). Here's the bread , in all its glory...

The star of this recipe was this flour. It's whole wheat pastry flour. It makes for moist and light baked goods. It has 100 cal. and 4 gr. fiber (real whole grain fiber!) in less than a 1/4 c. I have been able to find it in my local supermarkets, usually in the "organic foods" aisle...

And here was my glorious sweet treat breakfast! It was a good hunk of banana bread, a few strawberries and half of little daughter's Fiber One strawberry yogurt. This banana bread was only, okay are you sitting down, 2 pts. per slice!!!! I KNOOOOWWWW!!!!!

I cannot believe how well, this breakfast held me over. I wasn't hungry until about 1 p.m. For lunch, I picked another vegetarian-type product today. I like these chicken-ish patties. They are crispy and have a great taste. They are only 110 cal., 1.5 gr. fat (0 sat. fat), 2 gr. fiber and get this - 12 gr. protein!!

I put it on an Arnold Sandwich Thin with some lettuce and a squirt of light ranch. I had some baby carrots and yes, those dreadfully unhealthy fat free chips that taste so good! I promise I will find a better- for -you chip after I finish this bag up!

When you mentioned an off day with your exercise, I was wondering if you were going to take Sunday as a day off from your blog. But I was happy to see that you stayed on track for the weekend! You seem to have a well stocked pantry.
