Time Flies

Wow, time really got away from me this afternoon. I got caught up doing stuff around the house, then blogging and before I knew it, it was time to start the afternoon running around with the daughters. On our way out to dance class, I grabbed a quick snack. Apple and a Weight Watchers Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Mini Bar that I picked up at my meeting yesterday...

There was no breakfast for dinner tonight! I had planned for a one dish meal - Chicken and Barley Stew. I started it before I left with little daughter for dance and asked the husband to "keep an eye on it" until we got back. He said "sure" (wink ,wink) and I knew he was hoping to screw it up "by accident" so that they could have PIZZA or some other junk! No such luck, it's pretty hard to screw up Chicken and Barley Stew. I don't really have a recipe for this. I basically brown some boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs in a large pot, add chopped zucchini, onion, a can of diced tomatoes , about 2 c. chicken broth and 1/2 c. -1 c. pearl barley. Cook until the barley is done- usually about 45 min. You can add any veg you can think of; it all works well in this dish. I usually add mushrooms , but THEY don't like them(what else is new?) so I just sauteed some on the side for me...

A nice, comforting, healthy, "filling" and good for you meal. So there, people that live with me.

I felt like some ice cream for dessert. I had a serving of Breyers Fat Free Double Churned Caramel Swirl. And I topped it with some yummy homemade Cinnamon Granola that I made this afternoon( told ya - kitchen ADD). It was a great topping for this flavor ice cream...

I felt like I kept my Momentum promise today. I chose as many whole foods as I could and maybe as time goes on, I can eliminate much of the processed foods that are in my diet. I don't want to jump too many steps, though. My first priority is weight loss right now and I'm doing it the best way I know how. In the future, hopefully I can work on maintaining with a "clean" diet.

Hmmm...are there "clean" Reeses peanut butter cups????

There may not be any hope for me ;)
